Snackbar — Productivity in your browser

Snackbar

A Chrome sidebar extension for focus, time tracking, and project organization — built for the way distracted brains actually work.

Why I built this

I have ADHD. I run a marketing consultancy, which means on any given day I’m jumping between five or six client accounts — different analytics dashboards, ad platforms, content calendars, reporting tools. Every client is a different universe of tabs. Context switching between them was driving me crazy. I’d get deep into one client’s project, get an email or a slack message and suddenly need to open six more tabs to check something else. I used bookmarks to stay sane, but it was hard to keep them organized.

Then I heard about Arc Browser and I loved how they let you collect bookmarks in “spaces.” This way I could have a dedicated space for each client and spaces for personal projects and what not, each with a collection of links I used frequently. It was the first thing that actually helped. The sidebar kept my projects organized and my links within reach without drowning in tabs. Then Arc stopped updating their desktop app.

I tried a handful of Arc-inspired extensions and sidebar emulators — none of them really did what I wanted which was just let me organize links. They were tied into chromes bookmark functionality and really I just needed links that didn’t change or go away.

So I built my own.

What Snackbar does

Snackbar is a Chrome sidebar extension that combines the things I was reaching for every day: project workspaces, saved links with notes, todos, a visual focus timer, and automatic time tracking. Everything lives in one panel that slides open without leaving your current tab.

Workspaces

Create a space for every project, client, or area of focus. Inside each workspace, create link groups, drag-and-drop link order, attach notes, and see a running history of where your time is spent online (great for forensic time tracking).

Visual focus timer

A countdown timer with a circular progress ring that keeps time visible at a glance — no need to check the clock or switch tabs. Choose preset durations or use the stopwatch. Visual timers are especially effective for ADHD brains that lose track of time. Snackbar also logs which sites you visit during each focus session, so you can see where your attention actually went.

Automatic time tracking

Snackbar quietly logs time spent on every site, every day. See daily breakdowns with color-coded bars and export to CSV for client billing or personal review. No manual start/stop — it just works in the background.

Notes, todos, and daily notepad

Every workspace gets its own notes and todo lists. Pin important ones to the top. The daily notepad includes voice transcription for quick capture — hit the mic and talk, and it writes it down for you.

Calendar at a glance

Connect Google Calendar and see today’s schedule right in the sidebar. No tab switching, no losing your place — just a quick look at what’s next.

How it’s built

Snackbar is a Chrome Side Panel extension built with vanilla JavaScript. There’s no server — all data stays in Chrome’s local storage on your machine. If you want backup or sync across devices, you can connect your own Google Drive. Your data goes directly from your browser to your Drive — I never see it, store it, or touch it.

  • Zero-server architecture — your data never leaves your machine
  • Optional encrypted Google Drive backup
  • Google Calendar integration
  • Full keyboard shortcut support
  • Light, dark, and system themes
  • Data export and import for portability
